Privacy Policy

Skopeo is a free Bible study application. We collect only the information we need to provide the Service, we do not sell or share your data, and we do not run ads. This policy explains plainly what we collect, why, and what your rights are.

1. What we collect

We collect two kinds of information: information you provide directly, and basic technical information your device sends automatically.

Information you provide

• Email address and password. Required to create and authenticate your account. Managed by Supabase Auth.
• Display name and avatar. Optional profile information you may choose to add.
• Study content. Studies you organize, Bible passages you are studying, notes you write, and user context entries you save (URLs, article text, personal background you add to a study).
• Application preferences. Settings such as your preferred Bible translation, panel layout, font size, and study tool configuration.

Technical information

• Log data. Standard server logs including IP address, browser type, and pages accessed. Used for security monitoring and debugging.
• Product analytics (optional). When enabled, we use SiteBehaviour to understand aggregate traffic and how the public site is used. SiteBehaviour describes its data practices in its documentation. This does not include your study content, notes, or account details from Skopeo.
• Session data. Authentication tokens stored in your browser to keep you logged in. These expire and can be cleared by logging out.

2. How we use it

We use the information we collect for one purpose: to provide the Service to you. Specifically:

• To authenticate your account and keep it secure.
• To store and retrieve your studies, notes, user context, and preferences so they are available to you across devices and sessions.
• To respond to support requests or bug reports you initiate.
• To monitor for abuse or security issues affecting the Service.

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not profile you. We do not use your notes or study content to train machine learning models. We do not analyze your reading habits for any purpose beyond operating the Service.

3. Where your data is stored

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase, a cloud database platform. Supabase acts as a data processor on our behalf and is contractually bound to process your data only as we direct. You can review Supabase's security and privacy practices at supabase.com/privacy.

We do not use advertising networks. Beyond Supabase, no external service receives your account profile, studies, notes, or other content you store in Skopeo. We may use SiteBehaviour only for anonymized, aggregate website analytics as described above.

4. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any third party for commercial purposes. This is a firm commitment, not a policy that can be changed by a future business arrangement. Skopeo has no advertising partners and no data broker relationships.

5. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data. You can view all the content you have created within the application at any time.
• Correct your data. You can update your profile information and preferences at any time through Settings.
• Delete your data. You can delete individual notes, studies, or user context entries at any time. You can also delete your entire account, which will permanently remove all of your data from our systems.
• Request a copy of your data. If you would like an export of the data associated with your account, contact us at the address below and we will provide it in a portable format.

If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, including the right to object to processing, the right to restriction, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us directly.

6. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will permanently remove your personal data and user-generated content. Technical logs are retained for a short period for security purposes and are not linked to your account beyond that window.

7. Children

Skopeo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete the account and associated data promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We will not materially change how we use your data without notifying you — if a significant change is made, we will inform you via the email address on your account.
